Gentleness, sweetness and charity

Gentleness and sweetness are two divine virtues that bring peace to a person in all situations. Just as someone suffering from heatwaves finds relief in cold water—a single drop can be life-saving and soothing for someone experiencing extreme thirst—similarly, a person filled with gentleness and sweetness experiences inner peace. These virtues also radiate tranquility to those they serve.

Consider how, in a fire emergency, a water tank and a fire brigade are essential for providing relief. In the same way, gentleness and sweetness offer peace to those burdened by stress, worry, and loss. Like honey, which has an irresistible sweetness that draws people in for a taste, gentleness similarly attracts individuals, as they long to hear kind words that bring love and comfort.

Our supreme soul, Shiv Baba, encourages us to be loving, gentle, and united because sweetness fosters unity and love, which in turn create peace and happiness. In environments devoid of sweetness and gentleness, conflict inevitably arises. There, the pots of water dry up, as the flames of ego and hatred consume that atmosphere.

Thus, love and peace flourish in an environment characterized by sweetness and gentleness, leading to happiness. But how do we practice these virtues in our daily lives?

We must remember that we are all part of one divine family, and God is an ocean of love. Therefore, we should love our brothers and sisters and treat each other with kindness. Although people often emphasize that "Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians are all brothers," we must consider who is the one father whose teachings we should follow.
