Rising Above Public Opinion Through Soul Consciousness

Image
Various forms of this body consciousness are shame, fear of public opinion, hesitation, blasphemy-praise, insult to honor, and being affected by victory and defeat, etc. If a man sacrifices insult to honor and focuses on this memory, that-''I am a point star of light, I am ever powerful, knower of the three aspects of time, moving in the direction of the ever beneficial Shiv Baba, the supreme soul and our supreme father. Hence, I am moving on the right track. ''   So neither will public honor torture him, nor will he be affected by blame.

Beyond Body Consciousness: From Limited Attachments to Infinite Inheritance

Image
But we must remember that body consciousness does not come in only one form; it has many facets. One of the signs of body consciousness is that a person is always caught in limitation in everything, in an egoistic awareness of the body. For example, such a person will always be trapped in attachment to his small worldly home and his personal relationships. The understanding that, “This whole world is the home of my soul, all souls are my brothers, and I have some duty towards them,” will not be visible in his way of living. From morning till evening, he will remain busy only in serving his small household and his own bodily needs (and even that only from the point of view of the body). Thoughts like, “I have to do something for my soul’s development too; this big world is also my home, and I have some responsibilities towards it,” will be completely absent. Even if he has some spiritual or soul knowledge beyond this, his intellect will remain limited to the particular satsang he...

Body Addiction, Soul’s Loss :The Flavorless world of Kaliyug

Image
This Kaliyugi world has become completely tasteless. When all the juice has been extracted from sugarcane, what is the point of sucking its peel? In the same way, there is no truth left in this world; there is no essence left in it. It has now become totally impure. Just as it is a waste of time to suck the peel of a juiceless sugarcane, likewise, the affairs of this world have become painful. What value remains in them now?   In the same way, this body has suffered from many diseases. It is of a very dark and ignorant nature and is steeped in the vice of lust.   It is disgusting. Hence, to be egoistic about this dirty and suffering body, or to become addicted to the impure, hollow objects of the senses and thus lose the heavenly state of fortune, is utter stupidity. To lose the state of liberation out of attachment to this mortal body is nothing but preparing to hang upside down from the gallows of DharmRaj. Is this intelligence? No! Hence, we should at once reno...

Body consciousness vs. Soul Consciousness

Image
Yes, if a person, after giving up the ego of the mind, studies this Godly knowledge with discipline and surrenders the attachment and the reins of the intellect to Parampita Parmatma Shiv, then they receive all positive virtues. Just as a kite can be controlled only when its string is held firmly in the hand, in the same way, the soul whose string of intellect is in the hands of Parmatma can be safely guided in the strong storms of Maya and kept straight. Otherwise, it wanders here and there and finally breaks. Therefore, in order to make all kinds of sacrifices filled with joy, the first sacrifice must be that of the “I, I” consciousness. One must, with great importance, consider oneself a student, renounce the habit of overestimating one’s own knowledge, and develop a loving intellect toward Parampita Shiv Parmatma. Otherwise, it is certain that such a person will be destroyed by negative and opposite feelings.   A person who has sacrificed the pride of the mind can be gui...

Letting Go of Mental Ego, and accepting Divine Guidance

Image
Surrendering the Intellect: From Ego to Inner Wisdom A person who feels proud of their intellect can reflect in this way: "My intellect was once completely misguided, but now the Supreme Father, Supreme Soul, Shiv, has begun to transform it. Earlier, my intellect was impure and negative. The Bestower of divine intellect, the Supreme Father, Supreme Soul, Shiv Baba, is now turning my iron-like intellect into something as valuable as gold. God is the One who gives true understanding and right wisdom. It is He alone who has granted this elevated will, this spiritual knowledge, and this clear understanding."  Then, just as a tiny mouse might start thinking of itself as a great shopkeeper after finding a single piece of spice, in the same way, after receiving a little spiritual knowledge, I may begin to think of myself as very wise. But in truth, I need to become "dead while alive"—which means letting go of my past ego, habits, and beliefs and starting a completely new ...

Renouncing the Ego of Intellect

Image
We experience divine happiness and true peace after listening to this sweet discussion. So just imagine: those people who sacrifice completely in a truly practical way—what can be said of their abode of bliss, where there is no vice, no sluggishness, no impure thoughts, no waste, and not even the memory of body and world? Surely, they must be constantly swinging in the swing of peace. By reflecting on the state of complete sacrifice, I am experiencing a deep, soul-level happiness even now. Once that state is fully attained, there will undoubtedly be no limit to one’s happiness. Therefore, let us study the signs of complete sacrifice and the efforts required to become a high-class renunciant, so that I can adopt this principle of sacrifice with depth. We will also understand the signs of a person who is not a true renunciant. Signs of someone who has not renounced the ego of the intellect   A person who has not renounced the ego of the intellect keeps saying, “Dear, I unde...

The Sacrifice of Intellectual Pride

Image
The seventh sacrifice is the sacrifice of the pride of intellect. You must have seen renunciants who give up home and worldly life, yet start developing a great ego about their wisdom, skills, knowledge of the shastras, rationality, or the brilliance of their mind. If someone does not agree with them, they become angry, because they consider their intellect to be the best. They leave everything and then accept titles like “Shri Shri 108 Jagadguru” and run after name and fame. In this way, they destroy the value of all their previous sacrifices. Therefore, the sacrifice of the pride of intellect is very important. Sacrifice of the mind does not mean that we become blind devotees. It means we renounce the subtle feeling that “I am more intelligent than others” or the inner intoxication of “I am very wise.” We sacrifice this ego and consider ourselves lifelong students and sincere effort-makers.   The eighth kind of sacrifice is a very strange and subtle one. You know that so...

The Sacrifice of Waste and Impure Thoughts

Image
The fifth sacrifice is the sacrifice of waste and impure thoughts.   This type of sacrifice is of a very elevated stage. Not keeping anyone’s vices in your mind even after seeing them, not holding anyone’s weaknesses in your mind even after knowing them, not retaining complaints about anyone in your mind, not consuming negative or wasteful thoughts, sacrificing the ways, principles, vision, and thinking of the ignorant world, giving up the habit of taking delight in wasteful thoughts—this is the renunciation of a paramhans and it brings supreme peace. It includes the sacrifice of all impure desires, lusts, and cravings. In the period of bhakti (devotional worship), people often fall into impure thoughts and worldly subjects immediately after returning from the temple. On the path of ordinary renunciation, people suppress their desires simply by staying away from sense-objects. But on this Godly path, the Paramhans path, even while being surrounded by people, situations, ...

Renouncing the Garment of the Body

Image
Sacrifice of Body Consciousness   The fourth kind of sacrifice is the sacrifice of body consciousness. When a person renounces worldly life and leaves the household, they become permanently separated from it. After stepping away from domestic life, there is no longer any give-and-take, contact, or relationship with family members. Relatives and family gradually disappear from sight and from daily experience. Yet the body remains with a person until death. Through this body, we perform all actions; through it we see, hear, speak, and interact with the world every moment. To live in this body, use it for every task, and still remain detached from it – this is an intense and elevated form of sacrifice. Human beings have deeply ingrained sanskars of identifying with the body. Thoughts like, “I am a man, a woman, a young person, an old person, someone’s child,” and so on, are all expressions of body-consciousness. We repeat such body-based ideas thousands of times. To forget this bo...

Sacrificing the Sense and Memory of Relationships from Mind and Instinct

Image
The second sacrifice is the sacrifice of bodily relations from the mind and the intellect.   While staying in touch with bodily relations and meeting them, there should be no attachment or special affection for them in the mind; there should be no pain felt in their remembrance. This is called the sacrifice of bodily relations from the mind. Even while having love for our relatives, there should not be any love that is trapped in the specific roles of ‘mother’, ‘chacha’, ‘dada’, etc., but rather pure, selfless, soulful love.   There should, of course, be the awareness that they are our ‘mother’, ‘chacha’ or ‘dada’, but while meeting them, that bondage of relation should not be felt from within. The nerves, the very fine fibres of that relationship, should not feel that attachment. We should not remain conscious of the bodily relation itself, and the intellect should not lean toward it, tolerate pressure from it, be hindered by it, or become tense because of it. The sacrifice o...

Happiness beyond situations

Image
For instance, you receive wonderful news: you’ve been promoted at work. Naturally, your heart feels light and joyful. There is nothing wrong with celebrating such moments. But if your happiness stands only on this promotion, then the very next change—a difficult email, a tense meeting, or a small disappointment—can suddenly make that happiness disappear. True happiness needs a foundation that is deeper than situations. The very next day, you might hear that your favourite sports team has lost the final of an important tournament. You see your team lose, and suddenly your mood collapses. Just as a wave comes and goes, your happiness also rises and falls with every small scene of life.   So yes, enjoy the positive scenes. Celebrate the good news, achievements, relationships and comforts that life offers. But also remember: life will bring some scenes that are not as per our liking – loss, rejection, health issues, misunderstandings, or unexpected changes. If our happiness is s...

Sacrifice Without Suffering: The Paramhans Way of Rajyog

Image
The sacrifice of sanyasis is based on detachment. They experience a certain type of sorrow, develop detachment, and then they renounce.   In that state, they do not have the true and complete knowledge of the soul and the Supreme Soul. However, the sacrifice we are going to discuss is based on wisdom, that is, understanding and recognition. Work done on the basis of clear understanding does not involve as much difficulty. Secondly, renouncers go to the jungle and practice hatha yoga, observe long fasts, and inflict many kinds of bodily hardships on themselves. But in the case of the renunciation of a paramhans, or the easy Rajyoga renunciation that we have been talking about, there is no need to undergo physical suffering. It is a sacrifice of the mind and the intellect. It is the sacrifice of addictions and worldly desires. From one perspective, therefore, it is not difficult; but because it is subtle and mental, we definitely need to do deep inner effort. Attachment to Sense Obje...

Sacrifice, Generosity, and Service

Image
Sacrifice, Generosity, and Service   Yesterday, we reflected on the virtue of embracing simplicity and letting go of crookedness. In truth, however, sacrifice is not limited to giving up crookedness alone; it has many forms. Just as every divine virtue has its own special power, sacrifice too is a supremely elevated quality. When a person truly imbibes it, they become great. Today, we call someone a sanyasi (renunciate) because they appear to have given up many things. Just as mountains rise above all other places on earth, and a great warrior or hero stands above ordinary warriors, in the same way, sacrifice stands at the peak of all virtues. A truly sacrificial person stands above even other virtuous people. Just as one feels small in front of a mighty mountain, one naturally feels small in front of a true renunciate. This is why ordinary people instinctively bow before genuine ascetics.   However, it is not easy to sacrifice. It is like climbing a tall palm tree or ...

How to imbibe the virtue of Simplicity: A Supreme Virtue

Image
People are not only happy with a simple person; they also begin to trust him. They feel drawn to him because his heart vibrates with purity. When a person is not simple, people keep their distance. They feel, “He is a clever person; who knows what kind of selfish motives he has?” Such a person’s way of speaking is not attractive.   A clever or deceitful person is always thinking of his own interests, but a simple person thinks, “If someone receives happiness from me, then it is my good fortune.” That is why people love him, and his words are always full of sweetness. Simplicity is a supreme virtue. But how do we imbibe it? Simplicity is very close to God. Simplicity attracts other virtues.   There is a saying: “God is pleased with those who are truthful.” From this it is clear that this is a very great virtue, one that God himself blesses. When a person becomes simple and truthful, other divine virtues are quickly and easily imbibed in him. In this way, this one virtue inv...
