How Generosity Turns Sacrifice into Fortune
By default, generosity is a great virtue. Sacrifice can only be made by a big-hearted, generous person. Just as big-hearted and generous people donate money, in the same way, the sacrifice of thoughts and choices, body and mind, and everything else is always done by a generous person.
A stingy person’s resources benefit neither himself nor others. Similarly, a person who is not generous wastes his body, mind, and money. By not offering them in charity, in public welfare, or in service to God, he does not put them to work to create a great future for himself.
Therefore, one can truly adopt the great virtue of sacrifice only when one imbibes the virtue of generosity. For such noble renunciation, one needs boundless generosity. The more generous a person becomes, the larger his heart becomes for sacrifice, and the greater his destiny becomes.
Hence, the special quality of generosity is that it is a virtue that creates great fortune. If generosity is complete, then destiny will be complete; if generosity is incomplete, then one’s fortune will also remain incomplete.
