The Power of Selfless Spiritual Service
One should dedicate oneself to Godly service without any hesitation, because this service is truly an indestructible and inexhaustible form of income. When the intellect is focused on Godly service, the sacrifice of waste thoughts and many confusing alternatives becomes natural, easy, and lasting. Otherwise, when the intellect is left free and undirected, impure and negative thoughts quickly arise.
Through this service, one naturally receives the good wishes and blessings of others, and these become a powerful means for spiritual progress. Service strengthens divine virtues such as humility, tolerance, simplicity, and generosity. By doing service, one experiences instant happiness, and through spiritual service in particular, one’s spiritual stage is continually elevated.
Therefore, service must be done tirelessly. The opportunity for such elevated spiritual service is obtained only once in a long cycle of time and by serving, they make their own future bright and elevated.
The service of knowledge is a powerful method to transform tamoguni sanskars into satoguni sanskars. It helps us to finish desires step by step, to train the self to leave devilish sanskars, and to learn real renunciation in practical life. By remaining constantly engaged in Godly service, a person stays away from vices and wrong actions, and at the same time attains true prosperity.
Service is a wonderful way to earn happiness without any material expenditure. Now, when Parampita Parmatma Himself is present in this world and is engaged in unlimited, tireless, selfless, and egoless service, we too must join Him and remain co-operative in this elevated task. To receive the fortune of serving alongside God, and to learn directly from Him through the experience of service, is a once-in-a-cycle opportunity.
Just as there is only one way to settle and finish wrong actions, in the same way, by donating the jewels of knowledge to souls; by giving the strength and protection of purity to those affected by vices; by offering the nectar of knowledge to souls thirsty for truth; and by uplifting souls who are suffering and broken due to sorrowful and impure sanskars—thus giving them the key to attain happiness for many births—one accumulates immense spiritual merit.
